The Wedding Blog

Why Hello

Well can you believe it’s  been a year since we got married and more to the point, it’s been a whole year and I haven’t done a blog about it! I always intended to since we had so much help from some AMAZING small businesses and I wanted to share it with you but once we returned home it turned out that I had 80 orders to be getting on with and although I’d have loved to sit down and talk about myself more, at the time I figured what better to crack on with actual work that people had paid for and were expecting to receive. So here we are!

The Wedding

I don’t want to bore you with the details, no one needs to know how many times I toed and froed on centre pieces of how we narrowed down the pumpkins to pick (I’ve also written a somewhat comprehensive analysis for Rock my Wedding who are considering featuring our day on their blog soon (the fan-girl inside me is dying with excitement!) so if you’d like top tips on how to go all in autumnal then head their way in the next few months. With you, my friends, I shan’t pretend I know what I’m talking about in the slightest, it was a mix of magic and horror pulling it all together. There were many tears, awkward folk, money troubles and questionable diets but it was also wonderful fun, so many laughs and ultimately, the best day EVER. (so deffo worth all the stress and tantrums)

Ode to the wedding planner

Before we start let’s just pay tribute to my wedding planner; Pinterest. It’s a truly magical place full of inspiration and ideas and although sometimes it can be overwhelming because there’s so much eye candy you don’t know which look to go for, ultimately I say, pin everything you like then choose your faves. Below should be a preview of my Wedding board (If I’ve done it right – I had to ‘code it myself’ whatever that means!) I have a generic board where I pinned ALL THINGS WEDDING that I enjoyed and then created this one when I decided we would go autumnal so that I could nail the details.

To Sum It Up

Basically we went for Autumn as the general ‘theme’ as it’s frankly, the best season there is. We didn’t want to narrow it down to 1 colour because, why would you when autumn is just the epitome of colour?! So we decided that any seasonal shade would work. The bridesmaids chose their own style of dress from the same collection so that it was cohesive yet individual to them, 2 were in Charcoal and 2 in Aubergine – just cuz I wanted to mix it up a bit.

With all the eye candy out there it would have been easy to get carried away and not only spend a fortune but also have loads going on that might confuse the ‘message’ we therefore decided to pair it down and go all in on just a few decorations – Candles and pumpkins. I think we had around 400 candles and 200 pumpkins/gourds in the end. We even used the pumpkins as a table plan (which was brilliant as when a few people couldn’t make it on the day we simply moved their flag over to another pumpkin.)

Anyway that’s enough writing for now, we’re all here for the pictures anyway! All suppliers are listed at the bottom, if you like something you see please do go and send them some love. We did a fair bit ourselves too so if you’ve any questions just holler at me in the comments and I’ll answer best I can 😀
